Life began with the chirping of birds and a fresh breath of air but with every passing second, our ecosystem is falling apart. Right under our noses, 400 acres of the precious forest at Hyderabad Central University are under threat. This is not an ordinary plot of land. It is home to more than 450 species of beautiful and miraculous creatures that fill our lives and our mornings with joy. Yet today, they are homeless and we have become a party to this atrocity.

This plea comes from a deep, personal place. Each felled tree echoes the loss of these innocent animals’ homes. We have to think of the consequences of our actions, be responsible for the loss of habitat and biodiversity that has been occurring increasingly across the state of Telangana.

Revanth Reddy, as the Chief Minister of Telangana, you have the power to bring about change. Encroachments and non-sanctioned activities that destroy valuable ecosystems like this forest should and must be halted. Green spaces maintain the equilibrium of our urban life. They serve as the lungs of our cities, purifying our air and providing us with oxygen. Education needn't demand the price of deforestation.

It is time we raise our voice against such destructive actions that steal the home of our voiceless co-inhabitants. Please, let's act before it's too late. Save the forest, save our future.
