The Issue

Natural England has been issuing licenses that allow the shooting of buzzards to protect pheasant shoots. Buzzards, native to our country, are important contributors to our ecosystem and their population decline due to sanctioned shooting is alarming. As per the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB), buzzard populations have historically suffered from human persecution and are just beginning to recover. It's unjust to hinder that recovery for the sake of protecting non-native birds bred for shooting.

Moreover, the logic behind this practice is deeply flawed as Licensed buzzard shooting than pheasant protection sounds more like a practice designed to appease game hunters than a considered conservation strategy.

I urge everyone to stand up against this damaging and environmentally unsound practice, and call upon Natural England to cease the issuance of licenses that allow buzzard shooting at the expense of pheasant shoots.
