After two months of launching this petition, I closely follow any updates to Pago Park. I intend to be transparent with our efforts to push for its improvement. Since our last meeting with government leaders and members of the Village Council, we were told that as soon as the boathouse was completed, park renovations would happen.

Significant flooding at the tennis court area where boathouses are built has deterred the public from using the tennis courts and the park throughout this project. The contractor's solution was to dredge waterways to drain water from tennis courts. These waterways stop in front of the Pago Pago boathouse. Whether this is temporary or not, the Pago Pago Boat Crew has begun its training season. How do we safely access our boathouse with all the debris and unsafe conditions in the surrounding areas?

There are still mounds of dirt on the basketball court, which has been there for two months. The basketball court has been an iconic place for Fautasi crews to meet and practice and for many youth from Fagaloa to play. We continue to lose this space due to bad decisions by leaders.

Part of the government's response is to extend the hours of DYWA Pago's open gym from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. East Side residents have been using DYWA Pago more. Although this is a good alternative, there's nothing like having outdoor parks that provide recreation for all ages and contribute to a community's health and wellness.

Thank you for your continuous support.
