Cease Boathouse Construction in Pago Park

Cease Boathouse Construction in Pago Park
The Issue
Give someone an inch, and they will take a mile.
Pago Park is a lifeline for Pago Pago Youth. Every inch of the Park that is repurposed and taken away is an inch of our lifeline gone.
The drug problem impacts all of American Samoa. A fully functioning, safe, and clean park will help combat substance and alcohol abuse, increase the prevention of suicide, and assist with outreach in our village. Our kids need play to grow and thrive today and in future generations. Building unnecessary structures like boathouses in Pago Park removes a child's access to suitable parks and playgrounds.
Pago Park is an icon and landmark in American Samoa. It has served an essential role and purpose in our village and the territory for decades.
Parks encourage a sense of community. Most importantly, Pago Park continues to develop youth through sports, training, education, and fellowship. Boathouses attract more domestic issues, such as substance and alcohol abuse, truancy, and housing homeless and runaways.
Parks are used all year round, every day. Village boathouses are used sparingly throughout the year. Parks add to the value of real estate in town. Boathouses depreciate the Park's value, beauty, and utilization for public use.
Parks are suitable for the local environment and help tackle climate change. Boathouses attract visitors that increase trash in the park area, streams, and shoreline.
Stop Boathouse Construction!
Make Pago Park Great Again!!!
