Freshwater availability is a universal concern; 2.7 billion people still experience water scarcity at least one month per year - showing the precious nature of this resource (UNESCO). Yet, excessive water is used by large AI data centers to cool their vast arrays of servers, adding to the drain on this vital resource. Compounding the problem, such usage also contributes to a rise in water temperature, affecting aquatic ecosystems.
