Another bike update

Hi
Great to see all the new racks under Waipapa and in the old ED locked facility, thanks to George Schwass, Senior Operations Manager, for organising the installation.
The meeting to discuss potential parking under Waipapa finally happened yesterday. Summary below
The Facilities group support the concept of bike parking under Waipapa.
Space - original space likely to become inaccessible when Tower 3 starts to be built however an equally large space (about 860m2) is potentially available under Waipapa between the underground carpark and the park.
Requirements - will need consent from ChCh City Council
This will need the walls around the space to be compliant with building code including for fire this is likely to need remedial work to bring in line with CCC requirements for consent - $$. The assessment of the current structure will also cost.
Racks - more $$
Plan
Confirm identified space can be used.
Get a ballpark cost to convert the space to a bike park and submit to the Facilities Group/Executive Management Team who then may need to take it to the Board. Plan to get these costs within a month.
$$ likely to be a major problem in current climate so we may need to be creative about how this "no brainer" can be actioned. Perhaps alternative some funding streams that could be applied for? After all this is environmentally friendly✔, sustainable✔, carbon negative✔, health promoting✔............... Ideas welcome
