Valerie Carzello started this petition to CDC

In June of 2021, the CDC temporarily banned the import of dogs in America due to a "rise in fraudulent rabies certificates and to protect the safety of dogs and public health" with the promise that they would review the ban at a future date.

We the undersigned urge the CDC to revoke the ban ASAP as it prevents responsible pet owners and international pet rescue missions from adopting dogs to good/safe homes in America. The inability to import dogs causes needless suffering in otherwise adoptable pets that are now living in horrific conditions, being sold for meat or even euthanized in large numbers.

According to Executive Director of SPCA international Meredith Ayan, the United States already has "strict quarantine and rabies vaccination procedures in place that have proved highly effective for many years in keeping animals in the U.S. safe from rabies and which we encourage the CDC to keep enforcing."

With these already vigorous policies in mind, it is time to review the policy and end the ban on importing dogs.

Thank you for your time.
