CCSD dress code change

The Issue

The current CCSD dress code is a sample of misogyny and rape culture being cemented into the lives of young people. Whether it’s young girls being taught that spaghetti straps will give her unwanted attention, or that her clothing effects her education in anyway. I would like to preface my petition by saying that I don’t believe that girls should be indecent at school, but I do believe that school dress code restrictions should be modified.

The first change that should be implemented is the unexposed midriff rule. This basically requires girls to not show their tummy or any skin between their pants/shorts and shirt. We start school well into summer, and it gets up to 111 degrees on some days. Recently we’ve been hitting record temperature highs in the Las Vegas Valley, and when your body is covered it gets extremely warm.
The next change would be the rule of no spaghetti straps. This, like the latter stated above, is completely impractical due to the summer heat.

The last change that should be made in the student dress code is the fingertip length skirt/short/skort rule. This also apples to rips not above the knee. This is like I said previously, this is impractical due to the heat, especially when girls have clothing that is cooler.

My biggest complaint about the girls student dress code is the stigma and enforcement of it. Girls are told to cover their bodies due to their bodies being distracting. This enforces rape culture by insinuating that the way a girl dresses infers about who she is or how she should be treated.

Like I stated earlier, I in no ways want girls to be indecent at school, but there is a fine line between looking decent and over dressing in order to appease society’s standards. I would like for all of the dress code regulations above to be replaced with more lenient regulations or maybe even be entirely abolished.
