CCSD Must Investigate Teacher’s Violent Comment Against Charlie Kirk

CCSD Must Investigate Teacher’s Violent Comment Against Charlie Kirk
The Issue
On September 10, 2025, a Clark County School District (CCSD) teacher, Robert Cowles, publicly posted a disturbing comment on social media celebrating violence toward Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, stating that he “can’t think of many people more deserving of a GSW to the neck.”
Such remarks are in direct violation of Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) and CCSD’s own employee conduct policies, which require educators to uphold professional ethics, safeguard student welfare, and maintain community trust. CCSD policy clearly prohibits employees from engaging in speech or actions that could be seen as promoting violence, inciting harm, or compromising the integrity of their position as role models.
This petition is not only about one individual. Robert Cowles and any other CCSD teacher who makes abhorrent, violent, or celebratory comments regarding Charlie Kirk’s injury or death must be held fully accountable. A teacher entrusted with children must not publicly glorify violence—whether directed at a public figure, colleague, or anyone else.
To ignore this conduct would erode public confidence in the district and send the wrong message about standards of professionalism.
We call on the Clark County School District to:
Immediately suspend Robert Cowles without pay pending investigation.
Take disciplinary action against any teacher who makes similar abhorrent comments regarding Charlie Kirk’s injury or death.
Conduct a full review of actions both inside and outside the classroom to ensure compliance with NRS and CCSD governance policy.
Enforce state law (NRS) and CCSD policy to maintain the ethical and safety standards expected of all educators.
This is not about political affiliation. It is about safety, professionalism, and accountability. No student, parent, or community member should have to question whether their teacher condones violence.
✍️ Sign this petition to demand that CCSD hold Robert Cowles—and any teacher making similar abhorrent remarks—fully accountable.
