Dear Tyra: Do Not End America's Next Top Model!
The Issue
On October 14th, 2015, Tyra Banks announced that after 22 seasons, she is thinking of ending America's Next Top Model. The CW Network later confirmed Tyra's post, saying that this season will in fact, be the last!
As ANTM Fans, we do not want this to happen. America's Next Top Model has been one of the leading reality TV shows for over 12 years, but more then that, it has been a show that has worked to fight inequality, create diversity, and empower women (and later men), all well making changes to our society; especially the fashion industry. Because of Tyra and America's Next Top Model(ANTM), We have seen the modelling world become a diverse place of beauty, and a place of change. From shorter models, to plus sizes, and even some with disabilities of all types, America's Next Top Model isn't just about finding a high fashion & well rounded model, it's about changing the way, that not only the public views the modelling, and fashion, industry as a whole, but also the Industry itself, to become a place more representative of Reality, and True Beauty. Real Beauty.
Eending the show on Season 22 would be a great mistake from a business standpoint, as well as a slap to blindsided fans who have followed for a long time. We are asking for at least 1 more season, to give us the BIGGEST SEASON EVER, and a final boom, boom, boom, with a giant bang of a goodbye. By using "The Final Season" as a marketing theme for the final season of the show, it will draw in viewers in greater numbers who want to feel a part of it's ending.
I have watched ANTM since the very FIRST season, and it would be a great sadness to Television, and everyone in general, that such a game-changing, industry evolving, real life reality show may be taken off the air without a proper final season.
and to Tyra, although I would love to see you end the show at Season 25 (just listen to how that sounds), I do not want you to feel as through you are dragging on something that you are not passionate about, but please, think of the fans and all that you have achieved with the show, and give it the final season that it deserves. The biggest prizes, the biggest cast, the most diverse, the biggest runways, the hardest photoshoots & competitions. Heck, maybe even bring back some people! I don't care, but give us one more season of all that is the legacy of America's Next Top Model.
