Dear Friends and Supporters,
I want to express my sincere gratitude to all of you for your unwavering support throughout my ongoing battle for justice against Gray Television. The journey is ongoing and the challenges persist, but the focus of our efforts has shifted in the short term.
Currently, the fight against gun violence is being championed by remarkable organizations like Brady, Giffords, and Moms Demand Action. I have been and will continue to support their tireless work. However, no one is as resolutely taking on social media platforms and wrongdoers like Gray Television as I have for the past several years.
Many of you have been with me from the start and have been there since the inception of my congressional campaign and the subsequent formation of the Andy's Fight PAC. Today, I'm writing to share a significant update regarding Andy's Fight and I want to personally explain the reasoning behind this important decision.
After careful consideration and consultation, I have decided to transform Andy's Fight from a Political Action Committee (PAC) into a 501(c)(4) social advocacy organization. This transition is driven by the desire to broaden the scope and impact of my advocacy efforts beyond merely influencing elections.
As a 501(c)(4) organization, Andy’s Fight will have greater flexibility to engage in activities that directly shape legislation, public policy, and public opinion. This change empowers us to embark on broader advocacy initiatives and launch grassroots campaigns to promote the cause and mission of Andy's Fight.
It's crucial to emphasize that while our tax-exempt classification is changing, our core mission and dedication to eradicating the dangerous effects of "Guns & Google" remain unwavering. Additionally, I'm thrilled to share that Senator Mark Warner has stepped up as a powerful ally in this fight. He has sent a demand letter to the Federal Trade Commission on my behalf and for countless others who have suffered due to Google and Meta's negligent indifference. As with Gray Television, they simply refuse to do the right thing.
In Senator Warner's words:
"It has been over three years since Mr. Parker and the Georgetown University Law Clinic filed their first complaint regarding this case, and Mr. Parker continues to endure harassment as a result of the videos remaining on these platforms. Given the practices outlined above, I ask that your agency consider all possible avenues to ensure that companies like Google and Meta uphold their Terms of Service, not only in Mr. Parker’s case but also in other instances where their platforms may host violent and harmful content."
I've detailed more of this development in my Substack essay. This struggle is akin to a modern-day David vs. Goliath battle where we aim to hold Google, Meta, and Gray Television accountable for their dangerous and disgraceful behavior.
I thank you for your steadfast support and belief in me and Andy's Fight. As history shows, sometimes David does emerge victorious. Senator Warner's assistance marks a significant first step, but it's clear that a sustained lobbying effort is needed to reach our ultimate goals.
I humbly ask you to take that additional step and support our ongoing efforts through a contribution. At Andy’s Fight, no one receives salaries; we solely provide reimbursements for expenses. For years, I've been shouldering these costs personally, but now I turn to you for assistance.
Collectively we have the power to correct injustices and permanently resolve a situation that has inflicted immense suffering upon countless individuals.
With profound gratitude,
Alison's proud dad, Andy Parker
