The Issue

For years now, people have been entertained by Judge Judy and her no-nonsense attitude.  I was also entertained until recently.  Over the last few years, she has taken aim at the Pit Bull breed and those that own them.  On the Season 24, Episode 5 show, she called people who own pit bulls “crazy and stupid.”  I am disgusted by Judy’s constant demonizing of the breed and the owners.  Judy has said that she doesn’t care about any letters she receives defending pit bulls or of the opinions of people who own wonderful, loving dogs, she only pays attention to the few incidents involving owners who did not train or raise their dogs properly.  She has consistently claimed that pit bulls are “unnecessarily aggressive, dangerous, uncontrollable, genetically unstable” and a plethora of other degrading terms.  Judy blindly believes anything bad that is said about pit bulls, it doesn’t matter if the dog is a mix breed or a “mutt,” if the dog even resembles a pit bull or has pit bull in the name, then her mind is made up and the dog is bad.  I am asking that we tell Judge Judy that her attitude and her biased opinions are unwarranted and unwelcome.  I want to see all episodes where Judy is presiding over cases involving pit bulls be removed from air, whether airing new or in syndication.  Judy is spreading fear and ignorance with her completely one-sided, bigoted comments.  Pit bulls of all kinds (American Pit Bull Terrier, Stafforshire Terrier, Ayrnshire Terrier, etc.) are extremely intelligent, loyal, loving, dedicated, and make wonderful companions to every family or individual blessed to own one.  There are countless stories of pit bulls committing amazing acts of heroism and even sacrificing their lives to save those they love.  Judge Judy is attempting to use her platform to advocate against the pit bull breeds and to terrify people with the few “scary” stories of pit bull violence.  This needs to end before any more damage is done against this wonderful, beautiful, loving breed.
