Ask Paramount to Amend Their Star Trek Fan Fiction Guidelines

Ask Paramount to Amend Their Star Trek Fan Fiction Guidelines
The Issue
While we recognize and respect the right of Paramount Pictures and CBS Entertainment to protect their properties, trademarks, and copyrights, especially for a property as popular as Star Trek, we respectfully request that the Star Trek fan film guidelines be clarified and amended to be more friendly to fan-produced content. Many works that are both recent and have existed for several years immediately violate these guidelines. Several non-film works (audio dramas and podcasts) have suspended production or have completely removed content for fear of landing on the wrong side of the property owners. Gene Roddenberry himself embraced the artistic and creative work of fans. Please work with the fan content creators to present mutually beneficial guidelines that also clarify and specify what types of work are and are not affected by these guidelines.
