STICKY TRAPS ARE INHUMANE - CALL TO ACTION

1,836

The Issue

Glue/sticky traps are widely used throughout the United States for the purpose of capturing "pests" such as spiders, mice, and even snakes. The companies that manufacture these items capitalize on the fact that their product can eliminate unwanted "intruders" without the use of chemicals. This idea is understandably attractive to those who are unwilling to share their living space with uninvited guests.

Unfortunately, there is a side effect that is often overlooked - and that is cruel and unusual punishment. Mice who encounter these traps have been known to rip or chew parts of their bodies off in an effort to break free. Their bodies are stuck...and they panic. The end result is not pretty for anyone.

The snake who is prowling your patio or basement is only there to help you out with your rodent problem. Fear is natural, and those of us who strive to educate understand that. We just ask that you hear us too. Glue traps are torturous. No creature deserves that type of death.

We should all remember that we invaded their space, not the other way around. But if you have mice, use "snap traps." If you experience recurring snake sightings and are uncomfortable with that, please reach out! There are resources...we will help you! But letting any creature slowly starve to death while they are ripping their body apart is not right.

If it were a dog or a cat, would it be ok?

Please, if you care about the well-being of all creatures great and small, sign this petition and let's remove torture devices from the market.

As my nine-year-old daughter says, all lives are precious, even those that are small enough to fit into glue traps.
