Mr. Cathey belongs with River Bend Middle School

Mr. Chip Cathey, Principal at River Bend, has been demoted to Assistant Principal of an unknown school effective next year. This decision came from the Interim Superintendent. Mr. Cathey has never wanted anything except what is best for the kids. He has been featured in the newspaper at least twice this year, once for trying to help the 8th graders make an easy transition to the High School ,secondly for his involvement in the teacher appreciation week a couple weeks ago. He wants nothing but the success of each student and needs no personal gain from it. The Staff and Students are upset about this as much anyone. They love him as much as he loves them. Mr. Cathey asked that there be no rallies or protesting done on his behalf. He is wanting the kids to continue their focus on the testing that is coming up next week and doesn't want the focus on him at all. I decided that we,the community, parents, and students should quietly, peacefully, and positively speak/email the Catawba County Board on his behalf. Students of RBMS are also working on their own petition to show their love and support of their #1 Cheerlearder.   We are a community that loves and helps one another and he speaks highly of how much he loves the community and the servant leadership that is so prevalent as a result of our community. Now he needs the community to show how much he is one of us and how we support a member of our family!  This petition will be sent to each of the Catawba County Board members in hopes they will see how much we love Mr. Cathey as a principal and why he belongs right where he is so he can continue to lead our children down the road to success.  As a result we ask the Board to use your influence to speak with the appropriate person(s) to reverse this decision.  Please do not take this lightly!
