Dear Heartstopper, Netflix, Alice Oseman & See-Saw Films, please cast JONATHAN BAILEY in season 2 (and future seasons) of Heartstopper.

Jonny Bailey has done so much for the LGBTQ+ community. He continuously shines a light on LGBTQ+ matters in his interviews and his visibility is inspiring many young people (not just actors) to come out and live their truth. He strongly believes in the importance of proper queer representation in the media and has expressed his desire to see more gay actors in gay roles to play their own experience.

On May 22nd, we made a post on our instagram page @jbayleafan about us campaigning for Jonny to star in Heartstopper season 2. The post received an overwhelming response in support of getting Jonny in the show — with over 30k likes, 5k shares and tons of positive comments. 

Just to be clear, we do not want to be specific about the role that Jonny could take on. Our current goal is to get the conversation started amongst the producers of Heartstopper. As with most book-to-tv adaptations, it is possible that they will introduce entirely new characters for the future seasons. We just hope that they would consider having Jonny play one of the characters — lead or recurring.

Heartstopper is hands-down the best show when it comes to Queer representation. It is a show that should be watched by EVERYONE, regardless of their sexuality and age. 

Jonny is also a fan of Heartstopper! We've received countless messages from his fans telling us that they started watching Heartstopper because of his comment on Netflix's instagram post for Nick & Charlie and eventually falling in love with the show itself. We hope to see more of Jonny's fans from the Bridgerton fandom to watch Heartstopper once he’s in it. 

We believe that having Jonny in Heartstopper will benefit both shows. There is strong evidence to support this; ‘Crashing’ (Netflix), in which he starred as Sam, saw an increase in viewership after the release of Bridgerton. Similarly, 'Cock' (Play), became a hot commodity amongst his new fans from Bridgerton. 

Heartstopper resonated with many of the older generations of queer people like us. We also want more queer people to see a part of themselves in Jonny the way we see ourselves in him. Hence why having Jonny, a proud gay actor from our generation be a part of the wonderful Heartstopper universe would truly mean a lot to us.
