Skateboarding CitizenCasselberry, FL, United States
Nov 4, 2016
November 15th, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM consultants and staff from the city will host a community workshop to hear from the public what Casselberry needs for recreation moving forward. Please attend! Grab a friend, neighbor, co-worker or family member and come out to let them know Casselberry would benefit from a skatepark. The nearest concrete skateparks are miles away, not accessible for our youth. Skateparks are an essential part of a city that promotes an active lifestyle and healthy living. Many new skateparks have been built by cities across Florida over the past two years we've been calling for our elected representatives to build one here. Instead of addressing the need and demands of the community, we've watched as money has been allocated towards a small entrance to a bike path from a single neighborhood in the amount of $200K. The total spent to convert the residential lot into an entrance, once completed, will be nearly $250K! A similar amount spent on a skatepark, in a location like Secret Lake Park, would benefit the entire community! Its time to send our message in clear terms: Even our dogs have their own space, Pawmosa Park, lets do something to benefit our youth by building a skatepark! Free shirts will be given to supporters who attend the meeting. We hope that you wear them to display to everyone how important and well supported our grassroots campaign is to the community. Colors and sizes vary & we have plenty! Get there early to ensure you get one! Thanks for putting signs up in your yards over the past two years, signing petitions and spreading the word! The time for action has arrived, join us on November 15th to stand together to improve recreation in the City of Casselberry!
