A little later this month we've been invited to take part in a small focus group to discuss the Parks Master Plan being developed by outside consultants for the City of Casselberry. While there we will share with them all of the support that we have seen from so many of you, from petitions, yard signs and attending meetings that resulted in standing room only crowds. We will do our best to represent you and provide facts that support the need for a skatepark in Casselberry, the wide ranging public support and the benefits to the community it will provide. The attached Event on Facebook is the Public Workshop where the same consultants want to hear from you. We need as many of you as possible to show up and speak in support of a skatepark in our community. As many of you know, there are members of our local government that have told us to take our cause elsewhere. We dont plan to. The City of Casselberry is run by its citizens. Our electd officials took an oath to be our representatives and we're going to hold them to it. Never before has there been a movement like ours in the city, nor the response we've received. When walking and cycling paths were wanted, they found a way to do it. When a dog park was wanted, it was built. When the basketball courts, tennis courts and playgrounds need improvement, it happens. Skateboarding is now as mainstream as any of the traditional team sports that have long dominated the recreational offerings of our city. We're ready to add a skatepark and the time has come to stop talking about it and just do it. Your voices will be invaluable in making sure our elected officials get the message loud and clear.
