Casio VL-1 / SK-1 Re-Release

Casio VL-1 / SK-1 Re-Release

The Issue

The Casio SK-1 and VL-1 (VL-Tone) were two small reasonably inexpensive units which were issued between 1979-1984 (VL-1) and 1985-1987 (SK-1) . Since then, both instruments, regardless of their limitations, have been featured on numerous recordings.

With the trend of portable electronic instruments such as Teenage Engineering's Pocket Operators and Korg's Volca line, as well as the love of classic instruments, a return from both these units would be both useful, fun and probably successful.

My proposal to Casio would be to reissue these units (maybe call them the SK-2 and VL-2). The units would look exactly like their classic counter parts with minor differences, such as;

SK-1 : Larger sample memory (possibly using SD cards). 2 Additional effects (Reverb and Delay using sliders) and USB Midi.

VL-1: Banks for saving custom sounds. 2 Additional effects (Reverb and Delay using sliders) and USB Midi.

If you would like to try and get Casio to do so, please support this petition. I personally think this could be both cool, fun and inspiring!

Everyone loves a great comeback.
