As responsible owners of pets in casey, we would like the council to lower the absurd pricing for infringements of escapee dogs. We understand the pound and their need for food, shelter and care when an animal is caught, that is not the issue ( $160 a day) . The issue is the price casey council expect people to pay for there beloved pet whom happened to go wander. Some of these animals are inside whilst owners are at work, they have windows chocked/locked, they have medications given to them, they have tags with ph numbers when they are left, they are microchipped and they have high fences at their home. Most will do absoloutly everything possible to keep there dogs safe and at home. I mean you allow fireworks knowing animals freak out over those huge bangs! The dog catcher is paid around $42 an hour maximum, multiply this by 4 - 10 dogs a day!. If this happens multiple times, this can end up causing owners thousands of dollars. Please concider lowering these infringements, at least in cases of dogs who have anxiety!
