The relationship between Lapis and Peridot has become so well-known among the community, it no longer requires the dynamic of Steven Universe to remain afloat.

A spin off series will further challenge the two characters as they continue to learn about the Earth on their own, without the involvement of Steven or the Crystal Gems.
