to focus conservation efforts on tiger anti-poaching laws
The Issue
currently, there are approximately 3,200 tigers in the wild. this may seem reasonable, but when you think about the fact that there are
7,000,000,000
(7 Billion) humans on earth, that is a pale comparison. It is, as i say, completely necessary to preserve such an iconic, proud symbol of nature for times to come.
this is a goal that is currently recognized by global icons, such as
Leonardo DiCaprio, and the leaders of Russia.
· The tiger mortality rate used to be one tiger, per poacher, per day. The rate is not nearly that high, but that is because there are less tigers to poach now than there were before.
· Tiger poaching revolves around the concept of far eastern traditional medicine, which calls for certain tiger organs, and luck, as from the paw and tail.
· As a large predator, the tiger plays a key role in maintaining healthy ecosystems. These ecosystems supply both nature and people with fresh water, food, and health—which means that by saving tigers, we are helping people too.
· The way to know if this is making an impact is simple: seeing just how many people signed my petition, and see how that compares that to the amount of people needed to make a difference.
· Tigers can directly help some of the world’s poorest communities. Where tigers exist, tourists go. And where tourists go, money can be made by communities with few alternatives for income. Tiger conservation projects also help provide alternative livelihoods for rural communities that are not only more sustainable, but can raise income levels too.
