I'm starting this petition to SAVE OUR SCHOOLS! The Carter County school board hired a 3rd party to come in and attempt to make a plan on how to fix the budgeting problem we've had within our county for years! Yes, something needs to be done, but NOT the closing of 5 of our county schools over the next 3 years. Keenburg & Little Milligan are to be closed within 1 year. Then, Unaka elementary, Valley Forge, & Cloudland High within the next 3 years after that. If this happens, our STUDENTS WILL SUFFER!!! The teachers/staff of closing schools, who will lose their jobs, will suffer!!! If this happens the class sizes/ratios will be huge compared to now. Students won't get the extra time and teaching they may need individuallyindividually, BC the teachers won't have that extra time available...due to LARGER CLASS sizes. Our schools having smaller attendance, is a great thing! It gives the opportunity for the staff & students to know each other on a personal level. It gives the extra time to the things that are important and mean something! Closing our schools will only HURT everyone involved and we refuse to just sit back and let this happen! This petition is simply here for the ppl to have a voice! WE DO NOT WANT OR ACCEPT OUR CARTER COUNTY SCHOOLS TO BE CLOSED! PLEASE, If you have children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, going to our schools, help us with your signature! If u have a mother, father, sister, brother, daughter, son, son in law, daughter in law, ANYONE working in the CC school system, please sign and stand with us! We need ur help to SAVE OUR SCHOOLS FROM BEING CLOSED...Due to a budget issue that our county, and our state should be taking care of. Taking care of by giving us a bigger budget thats needed!! Not taking more away!
