PETITION: Stop Federal Agents from Targeting Legal Gun Owners

To: President Donald Trump, Congress, and the Department of Homeland Security

On January 24, 2026, Alex Pretti - a 37-year-old nurse, U.S. citizen, and licensed concealed carry permit holder - was shot and killed by federal Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis while legally carrying a holstered firearm. He was filming a federal operation when agents pepper-sprayed him, disarmed him, and shot him multiple times.

The Trump administration's response has been deeply alarming to all Americans who support the Second Amendment:

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem called this "an act of domestic terrorism"

FBI Director Kash Patel claimed "No one who wants to be peaceful shows up at a protest with a firearm that is loaded with two full magazines"

President Trump emphasized Pretti had "two additional full magazines" as justification

This is wrong. Carrying a firearm with spare magazines while possessing a valid permit is completely legal in Minnesota and most states across America.

Prominent Second Amendment advocates - including Kyle Rittenhouse, Mark McCloskey, the Gun Owners of America, and even the NRA - have condemned this rhetoric as an attack on lawful gun ownership.

We demand:

An independent investigation into the killing of Alex Pretti
Clear confirmation that legal concealed carry with spare ammunition will NOT be treated as "terrorism" or grounds for use of deadly force
Training for federal agents to respect state concealed carry laws
Accountability for officials who have demonized legal gun ownership
The Second Amendment protects all Americans - not just those who agree with the government. If exercising your constitutional right to bear arms makes you a target for federal agents, then none of us are truly free.
