All Religious Holidays Should be Observed in Public Schools

All Religious Holidays Should be Observed in Public Schools
The Issue
On Monday, September 28th, Yom Kippur, students had online school instruction. This is a solemn religious holiday for the Jewish community and it was discriminatory to Jewish students. All students are off of school for all Christian holidays, therefore every single religious holiday needs to be observed in public school, no matter how many students practice that religion. No student deserves to be left behind simply for practicing their religion. Maryland students have banned together for school protests on religious holidays where students do not attend their daily classes so the teachers could not teach new material that the Non-Christian students may miss out on. In the state of Maryland, the only religious holidays that are state-mandated days off of school are Christian holidays. This needs to be updated to include all religious holidays. Please sign this petition to help us show Maryland Public Schools that they cannot ignore religious holidays simply because they aren’t for the majority.
