The Issue

When I first joined the Carriel Jr. High School girls basketball team, I was full of excitement and anticipation. However, my experience was quickly soured by the actions of our new coach. Missing the first two practices was something I had to do due to taekwondo, but the repercussions have been unfair and disheartening. The coach seems to have a personal vendetta against me, using it as an excuse to sideline my contributions and ignore my efforts. This has created an oppressive atmosphere not just for me, but for many players on the team.

During our training sessions, it's become evident that the coach is not focusing on teaching essential skills. Before our first game, we weren't even shown any offensive plays. It is hard to feel motivated or inspired when you are not provided with the tools you need to improve or succeed. Many of us joined the team with dreams of bettering ourselves at basketball, yet the lack of proper training and support is leaving us stagnated and frustrated.

Moreover, it’s disheartening to see how quickly a rift can form with the coach. Once you're on her bad side, there's no redemption. The feeling of constant scrutiny and negativity affects not only individual morale but the team's spirit as a whole. A coach should inspire, guide, and support her players, but what we are experiencing is the opposite.

For the future of the Carriel Jr. High School girls basketball team, it’s imperative that we have a coach who prioritizes player development and cultivates a positive and inclusive environment. We need someone who will not only teach us game strategies but also uplift and encourage us to overcome challenges.

Please join me in urging the school administration to consider replacing the current coach with someone experienced in fostering young athletes and committed to creating a positive team experience. Sign this petition to bring about the change needed for a brighter future for our basketball team. Together, we can make a difference.
