Ban single use plastic bags in Kwinana, Western Australia

Ban single use plastic bags in Kwinana, Western Australia
The issue
Plastic bags are polluting our oceans, killing tens of thousands of birds and marine animals each year. They are typically used once or twice for short time before they become waste, and often litter.
As you read this, there is a growing mass of plastic waste circulating around Cockburn Sound in the Indian Ocean!
The idea behind banning single use plastic bags is to promote the use of re-useable shopping bags. For these reasons and many others, I, the undersigned, am in support of a bylaw to effectively ban the use of single-use plastic checkout bags in Kwinana, Western Australia.
