Save Scaife Hall!

The Issue

Carnegie Mellon University plans to demolish Scaife Hall as it now stands and spend 75 million to build a replacement. It’s a new building (compared to Baker, Doherty, etc) and the classrooms are top notch.

This is a huge waste of money and resources. CMU has no business doing something like this if being an environmentally conscious university is our goal.

A perfectly fine building should not be torn down. This is irresponsible and CMU needs to better manage our building space and funds. I request a cost benefit analysis and I urge the university to consider an expansion of the current building or a separate new building.
