Improve infrastructure surrounding Silicon Valley cities– Milpitas, San Jose & Santa Clara

The Issue

Improve lives of Milpitas and Santa Clara city residents. First pay attention to infrastructure and then start building new homes. Current infrastructure doesn't support so many new homes/apartments being constructed.

Santa Clara/Milpitas traffic condition is getting worst day by day amid increasing number of new homes/apartment complexes.

New high density homes/apartments are being constructed at intersection of McCandless and Great Mall pkwy, near future BART station at intersection of Montague and great mall pkwy.

A 12-story apartment complex surrounded by ground-level townhomes is slated to be built near the pending Milpitas BART Station off of Montague Expressway.

Milpitas City planning is leaving no stones unturned in screwing lives of Milpitas residents.  McCandless drive is single lane road, where already 600 homes are located and one new school and a park are planned.  Not sure what is qualification of those who are approving so many homes without considering roads planning. There is not enough parking allocated on those building complexes as well.  City is just interested in unanimously approving all things which can bring money to city but not looking on side effects of those constructions.

On top of that, planning commission is approving high density apartments/homes on McCandless drive.  Residents are already suffering from bad/hazardous odor. Traffic conditions are really worst in peak or off-peak times. I would like to encourage Milpitas City officers/ planning commissioners to see peak time traffic and then decide on approving SO MANY homes/apartment complexes.

Traffic condition of Montague Expy/McCandless drive/Great Mall pkwy/237/101 is like a parking lot during peak times.

Looks like Milpitas has taken all the responsibility of meeting residence demand of whole bay area.

Request to Politicians and city officials -

1.     Instead of residences, please work on infrastructure improvement and increasing public transportation.

2.     Don’t just blindly approve all major projects thinking it will benefit residents.

3.     Check out accidents occurring on express ways, freeways every day.

4.     Try commuting during peak time and then decide on those approvals.

Residents are really upset but no one is taking steps to stop this non-sense of building N number of homes/apartments around Milpitas/Santa Clara.

Some of the projects in Milpitas and Santa Clara -

1. KB Home and Barry Swenson Builder's proposed Piper Drive Residential project, which envisions a 12-story tower containing 210 apartments, 2,937 square feet of commercial space and 98 townhomes on 5.72 acres at 1256 Piper Drive.

2. 22-story Landmark Towers-Milpitas mixed use development by BDK Capital LLC at 600 Barber Lane

3. Other developments occurring in Milpitas - http://news.theregistrysf.com/milpitas-on-track-with-its-great-mall-district-redevelopment/

4. Santa Clara City Place development - http://www.mercurynews.com/business/ci_30077172/its-surreal-silicon-valleys-biggest-private-development-project

Politicians are approving these projects left and right mentioning these development are improving residents' lives. But everyone knows what these projects are doing to people's lives.

Ultimately, residents will have to move out of these cities

Request to all residents

-         To come forward and start signing this petition so that our voices are heard.

-        There are  same old roads/freeways but  lots of new permits issued by Milpitas/Santa Clara city govt.

-         We are paying taxes to city and we are in helpless situation at this time.
