The Carmel Clay School District is discussing the return of grades 6-12 to full time at maximum capacity. Not all of our staff members have been vaccinated. In addition, our teachers will not have a lot of time to adjust lesson plans and seating charts for a return to school as early as March 22nd.

We are in our final weeks of the school year, returning us to full capacity while maintaining safe social distancing would cause some students to have to switch teachers or teams in our final weeks of school. This would cause more harm than help to many of our students. Many of our students and staff have had a hard time adjusting to hybrid and the adversities of going to school during the pandemic. Returning us to full capacity will cause unnecessary stress for our students, teachers, and staff.

There is a safe and appropriate time to go back to full time at maximum capacity but now is not that time. We would instead like Dr. Beresford, the school board, and administartors to instead change direction and begin working on a plan for the 2021-2022 school year.
