Petition updateStop selling unsafe, recalled cars to consumers.PA Gov. signs "car dealer license to kill" legislation, backed by CarMax
Consumers for Auto Reliability and Safety
Jun 29, 2018
It used to be illegal for car dealers to sell dangerous recalled used cars in Pennsylvania. Not any more. Pennsylvania lawmakers unanimously passed a bill backed by CarMax and other car dealers to allow them to get away with selling hazardous, defective recalled cars, and last night Gov. Tom Wolf signed it into law.
So if you live in New Jersey, New York, Maryland, or Ohio, watch out for PA car dealers who try to lure you into buying a car in their state. They can get away with selling you cars with killer safety defects that you can't possibly get fixed, because there are no parts available.
We're going to keep on fighting and believe it's just a matter of time before this evil law is reversed, but meanwhile, please warn your family and friends: NEVER buy a car from CarMax, and DO NOT buy a car from a car dealer in PA.
