To not pay disgraced Local Authority Chief Executive, Mark James, a voluntary severance package

The Issue

In no way should someone who has been investigated for dodgy practises the amount of times that Mark James has been and who has been investigated by the Audit Commission receive any more public funds.

Anthony Barrett, the Assistant Auditor General for Wales, ruled that Carmarthenshire County Council had acted unlawfully when it authorised a tax avoidance scheme to benefit Mr James.  The auditor also said the council acted unlawfully when it indemnified Mr James in a libel counter-claim he brought against blogger Jacqui Thompson.

Whilst schools are closed, womens' services have been cut and some decidedly dodgy goings on have happened under his watch, this Chief Executive has been giving himself some hefty payrises. Shame on him and shame on anyone who supports him - and he should not receive a penny more of our money!
