Please help us to Defeat Gladman @ Scotby. Just months after Carlisle City Council unanimously rejected plans for a massive housing scheme close to Scotby Village Green, land speculator Gladman is back with a new application on the same site.

We are faced with a proposal that would totally destroy the rural character of our village.

The outline plan by Gladman Developments is for up to 90 houses to be built on open countryside that forms a much-loved village view, enjoyed by generations.

The site is not part of the Carlisle City Council Local Plan and is "discounted" for housing development because of the landscape impact.

It is unnecessary over-development in an area with sufficient housing already earmarked, and would be totally out of scale with the village.

We need to stop this beautiful location being overrun.

Gladman has been highly criticised for its aggressive planning tactics across the country, particularly targeted at cherished green field sites.

One councillor condemned the last Scotby proposal as being “speculation of the most mercenary sort”. They must be stopped.
