Thanks to the Carleton community's support of Mike's Place, GSA Council voted on an emergency motion on Thursday night to keep Mike's Place open this summer on a trial basis with reduced hours. There will also be a budgetary committee struck to ensure that Mike's Place can make necessary cutbacks while still providing you with the service, food, and environment you love.  

We need your support of Mike's Place to continue. Doug Ford's 'student choice initiative' has made the future of student unions across the province extremely uncertain. Student unions such as our GSA have to put up a strong fight every step of the way. The council's decision to keep Mike's Place open for the time being is a win for student spaces and student services and demonstrates our resiliency when we come together. However, these services need the support of the community if they are to survive the remainder of Ford's mandate. In other words, we need you to show up! 

We hope that you will consider making Mike's your social destination this summer. We promise to make this summer at Mike's one for the books, so please stay tuned for news about events, specials, and fundraisers. We hope to see you there!
