Stop your degrading advertisements

The Issue

Carl's Jr. is selling more than just hamburgers with its controversial advertisements.

The Kate Upton ad along with the Miss Turkey one are not the first of their kind. After further research, I found out about previous ads featuring celebrities known for their sex appeal such as Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton.

As a woman, I feel degraded and my rights violated. I for one would not want my husband, brother, father, or son, seeing a half-naked woman on TV. Women have done a lot to help society improve and it is shameful and wrong to have them remembered for nothing more than their looks.

What's wrong with selling the burger and not the body posing with it?

Is it really all about money?

What is Carl's Jr.'s motive? Targeting men's desires and using soft porn as a means of attaining customers?

What happened to ratings and limits on television? Are advertisements even monitored anymore? Is it really okay for our children and young boys to grow up seeing women as nothing more than sex objects? What happened to what's beneath our bodies? Are our hearts and minds even considered as part of the package?

These ads are even degrading to the founders of Carl's Jr. themselves. From the time the first restaurant was founded in 1941 by a man who worked hard for his money, Carl's Jr. has always been thought of as a family type business. Using celebrities and women as objects of lust do not represent the family values that founded the food chain.

We are going to show the advertisement agency at CJ that their cheap ads don't sell, therefore setting an example for other companies in the future.
