The Democratic rights of the people of St.Vincent and the Grenadines had been gravely violated on 09th December, 2015. The general election process which was supposed to be a free and fair one, was severely compromised by several reported allegations of irregularities and fraudulent activities, in which a microscopic few had hijacked the electoral process in favor of the incumbent party, despite numerical evidences from votes showing that the major opposition party had won the election in those constituencies.
There are supporting evidences of claims of corruption, bribery, threats, marginalization, victimization and intimidation of innocent citizens of St.Vincent and the Grenadines during the entire election process by the incumbent ruling party. Also evident were tampering of ballot boxes, stealing of votes, bribery, lobbying of voters on election day and illegal votes, among several other noted violations against the law that governs the electoral process.
We therefore call on all concerned Vincentians, Caribbean nationals and the global community to take a stand with the people of St.Vincent and the Grenadines and support this petition to facilitate a proper investigation into these alleged matters, so that perpetrators can be prosecuted and for fresh elections to be conducted in those constituencies where irregularities were found.
