Gabrielle Chadowitz started this petition to Cargill

Brazil's rainforests are the lungs of the Earth and contain one of the largest CO2 sinks on this planet.  Cargill inc, one of the largest soy traders in the Amazon, and they are not abiding by their original moratorium on only buying soybeans from land that has already been deforested. Therefore, they are continuing to buy soybeans from farmers that clear native vegetation. Consequently this is not only destroying rainforests but contaminating the water supply. It is crucial if we are going to try to mitigate the effects of climate change, we must protect the areas on this planet that sequester the most carbon dioxide. Please ask Cargill to abide by a new moratorium on the Cerrado Region of Brazil, which will only allow them to buy soybeans from land that has already been harvested. The goal is the push Cargill to only buy soybeans from Brazilian farmers who grow soy on already cleared land in the Cerrado region, without damaging the habitat.
