PLEASE HELP SAVE THE NEAR 100 YEARS OLD TREES in UBC!
The University of British Columbia is situated on the beautiful heavily forested Point Grey Peninsula in Vancouver. The forest within the city help give Vancouver its signature temperate climate and is home to many small animals.
The Carey Hall has proposed to build a 6 storey building on the north side of Walter Gage Road and a 4 storey building on the west side of Wesbrook Mall. This will result in the removal of multiple near 100 year old maple trees and cedar trees. Please sign this petition before the development proposal open house on February 16, 2022.
These tree have been living since before many of the students, faculty, staff, and residents even set foot in UBC. These trees are very healthy, and establish the foundation for a interconnected ecosystem of insects, small rodents, larger animals, birds, and plants.
The trees need to be saved for the preservation of UBC's unique biodiversity and for future generations to cherish.
PLEASE help us by signing this petition before February 16, 2022!
Please show up at the public open house on February 16, 2022 @ 11am - 1:00pm or 7 - 8:30pm and let UBC Campus and Community Planning hear our voices to SAVE the TREES!
