Remove the disturbing image of a headless bound woman on the outline document for the Pontifical Council for Culture's plenary assembly on "Women's Cultures" February 4-7, 2015 and advocate for women's equality in the Catholic Church.

The Issue

The use of the image "Venus Restored" by Man Ray (1936') on the Vatican's outline document for the assembly on "Women's Cultures" is disturbing and highly inappropriate. The artist, Man Ray sexually assaulted women and objectified them in his art. This work has no place at a meeting purporting to support women.

The Catholic Church is an influential global institution whose leadership has excluded women from equal participation at all levels of church life for centuries. It cannot speak 'for' or 'about' women when women are not welcome as equal partners at tables of decision-making and tables of Eucharist in the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church hierarchy lacks any credibility in advocating for women until it deals with its own discrimination against women.

Speak up for all women by letting the Vatican know, 'there is something wrong with this picture'!
