KEEP ST. BERNADETTE CHURCH OPEN

KEEP ST. BERNADETTE CHURCH OPEN
The Issue
We the parishioners and church attendees of St. Bernadette Parish located at 9343 S. Francisco Evergreen Park, Il 60805 are petitioning Cardinal Blase Joseph Cupich from the Archdiocese of Chicago to reverse their decision and keep St. Bernadette church open .The parishioners of St. Bernadette are granted this procedure appeal under Catholic Canon laws 1732-1739. We are asking for the reversal of this decision based on these statements: 1) A parish HAS to have a continuous geographic area. Because St. Bernadette and Queen of martyrs do not share an actual border this merger is not legitimate. 2) St. Bernadette is a stabilizing part of the east side of Evergreen Park and the only Catholic Church that exists and serves the east side of this village. 3) St. Bernadette is in good financial standing and has the strong support of it’s parishioners in supporting it financially. We formally request an appeal this decision which is our right as parishioners under church canon law.
