Dear campaigners,
I would just like to let you know that this evening the Student Senate over at Cardiff University passed a motion that the campus wide poll was not reflective of representing the voices of liberation groups that exist to overcome the tyranny of the louder majority.
They felt that this poll was not needed to pass the motion that Dapper Laughs should not be performing at our Students' Union as it would be in contravention of the anti-lad culture policy. Therefore I can confirm that he will not be performing at Y Plas in February.
I thank you all so much for getting behind this campaign, I can't believe that we have made such a difference on campus. Already a lot of women have come forward and said they feel more comfortable being able to talk out about their experiences of sexual assault at university.
We have managed to start a conversation around campus about feminism and gender equality regardless of whether people agree with us, and this is the main thing. I hope now we can move forward and ensure that our university campus will forever remain a safe space for the whole of the university population and all the minority and liberation groups it hosts.
Feminism 1 - 0 Dapper Laughs.
Best,
Vicky Chandler
