The aim of this petition is to stop the building of the football pitch on Sanatorium Park, the area that backs on to Trem Yr Afon, The Mill (North Western side).

Parking is a big issue already with the limited parking the residents of The Mill. Particularly with the school traffic, adding the parking of this football pitch on top will make matters so much worse. It makes no logical sense to move the pitch down this end of the field when there’s parking on Lawrence Avenue, in Fitzalan and Gôl Football Centre.

Not only is the area a beautiful part of the park for dog walkers, but it attracts a lot of wildlife, especially in the winter months. This particular spot is very popular for dog walkers of The Mill to meet up and let their dogs run around. Also, if you take a walk over to the field in question, you’ll see that it’s riddled with rabbit holes and mole hills. This will just continue once the pitch has been built, meaning more work to maintain it.

We were told initially when purchasing our house (which backs on to the field) that the area wouldn’t be built on. We have had two days notice (letter posted Friday evening, with work starting Monday) that building is going to commence for a football pitch with a fence erected around it.
