Petition delivery and news

Hello. This petition will now be delivered at the next Council open meeting on January 26th 2017. Many thanks to those who have signed and commented so far. Your support is hugely appreciated.
Meanwhile! I have asked Cardiff Council several times what plans/consultations were carried out to address the impact of the changes in Fitzalan school times on traffic/road safety on Lawrenny Avenue. With a large secondary school opposite a primary school, bringing 'peak times' closer together was obviously going to increase congestion. Unfortunately, Cardiff Council has failed to answer these questions. I am now taking the matter forward to the Ombudsman.
In more positive news, Cardiff Council Transport are implementing 'traffic calming measures' on Lawrenny Avenue. They are also looking at creating a pedestrian path from the Athletics Stadium to the rear of Pwll Coch school, to allow Pwll Coch parents a safe 'park and walk' route (at the moment, Fitzalan school has two exits to separate roads, but Pwll Coch only has one, to Lawrenny Avenue). This is not a 'done deal'. Transport are currently working out a 'concept design' to establish the potential costs. They have however conceded that while they expect 70 percent of children in an urban primary school to walk to and from school, this is not appropriate for Pwll Coch. As a Welsh medium school, it has a very large catchment area compared to other primary schools (and the school is situated on the edge of that area). Transport are also talking to the Education team regarding the school times for Fitzalan and Pwll Coch.
To help the Council, please e-mail any complaints, reports and photos of bad parking and driving on Lawrenny Avenue to this (rather long) address:- neighbourhoodservices-businesssupport@cardiff.gov.uk. It all helps.
Finally, can I respectfully remind everyone that it is up to us to drive and park safely. I look forward to progress in the New Year, and bringing you some more positive news! Many thanks again, and Merry Christmas/Nadolig Llawen i chi.
