Why this petition matters

The proposal by the council to remove the parking on one side of Albany road benefits a very small minority and adversely affects almost everybody.

The council has not offered any alternatives parking facilities to facilitate the ones they are removing. The road will be gridlocked as cars fight for parking slots, increasing pollution and emissions.

People like to remain local to do their shopping and to visit the post office and banks, especially during the current climate, to try and avoid large crowds in city centre. With this proposal Shoppers will find it increasingly difficult to park their cars to do their shopping.

Residents in the vicinity will see increased problems parking their cars outside their houses as shoppers fight for limited spaces.

Removal of parking will have an adverse affect on retailers already struggling through the covid situation by reducing footfall. Shops will close as a direct result of this proposal.
