If you are a Flight Attendant or Pilot with Asthma; and have had a toxic fume, or multiple toxic fume events as I have had, you may request an accomodation to the equipment you use everyday, to have carbon monoxide detectors installed on all commercial aircraft that your airline uses.
Your email should be addressed at a minimum to your Human Resources Department and might look something like this:
To whom it may concern;
Due to my asthma; and 3 confirmed carbon monoxide poisoning events ("insert the number of carbon monoxide poisoning events you have had") while at work onboard "(insert your company's name here"), I am formally requesting for Carbon Monoxide Detectors to be installed on all ("insert your company's name here") Aircraft at all times.
Sincerely,
Leslie Haberland
Flight Attendant #15303
There is power in numbers, and if all parties affected at a specific airline ban together and request these types of ADA Accomodations we can start moving the needle in a positive direction. This law is goverened by the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission and there are consequences for employers who do not comply.
