Thanks to all who have signed and shared the petition since Friday. It is clear that the change in policy has struck a chord. While everyone has their own reasons for being upset, nearly all agree with these points:
1. This was a favorite family-friendly event and one enjoyed by the entire community.
2. This does nothing to help the riverfront businesses, as it will eliminate the BYOB take-out purchases and drive down Friday night crowds at Yards Park.
3. The idea that this was done for environmental reasons is a joke. Single serve beer in plastic cups is not environmentally-friendly.
4. The decision to enter into an exclusive relationship with Corona (InBev) is unpopular. If it were one (or multiple local breweries), the outrage wouldn't be there.
As of today, we have received no response from anyone at the Capitol Riverfront BID. If you'd like to reach out to them directly, the contact info is below. Also included are the Twitter handle and Facebook page.
Please keep it going, as the first concert is less than two weeks away!
