Darkstalkers and Street Fighter. What do these two fighting game franchises have in common? Well, they've both been seen as two of Capcom's most prominent franchises. Except, Street Fighter has been around for quite a while, and Darkstalkers is basically the F-Zero of Capcom, because it hasn't seen a new title in ages (not counting F-Zero 99, even though it's fun).

Both franchises feature a variety of characters from around the world, except Darkstalkers' characters are inspired by monsters from international folklore in a pastiche gothic horror setting. For example, Demitri is a Romanian vampire and Morrigan is a Scottish succubus. As far as I know, the closest thing Street Fighter has to a beast-like character is Blanka. 

The first time I had ever even heard of Darkstalkers was Morrigan in either Tatsunoko VS Capcom or (Ultimate) Marvel VS Capcom 3. Since then, I've taken an interest in it that just kept growing. It's an overlooked series brimming with personality, charm and creativity, and plenty of exaggerated expressions, because Capcom seems to love using those in their fighting games. It also introduced gameplay mechanics that would be used in later Capcom fighting games, including the Street Fighter Alpha and Marvel VS Capcom series. Let's face it; we all know Capcom probably isn't giving us a new Darkstalkers game anytime soon, but there may be a way for them to open the path for it.

We need Capcom to bring Darkstalkers into the Street Fighter universe, starting with Street Fighter 6. I think it seems appropriate, since Capcom Fighting Collection, which included ALL of the Darkstalkers games, seems to have done well. Also, we still haven't gotten a new Darkstalkers game yet. The first two Darkstalkers characters to join Street Fighter 6 should be Demitri and Morrigan. They should arrange their themes from Night Warriors: Darkstalkers' Revenge.

I believe that bringing Darkstalkers into Street Fighter will not only give the former series a new game, but also some more popularity and appreciation, especially for its gothic-inspired characters. I also think that, although Morrigan is used to represent Darkstalkers in Capcom crossovers (due to her popularity), Demitri should also represent Darkstalkers and become playable in more Capcom crossovers (mostly because the series is called Vampire in Japan).
