Cap Monthly Healthcare Premiums for Middle-Class Californians
The Issue
Some real talk for a second: California is getting crazily expensive, and our healthcare costs are spiraling out of control. Take my story, for example. January first, my silver plan with Blue Shield skyrocketed from $350 to $1,675 a month. That’s over $1,300 more, so I had to downgrade to a bronze plan. Yet, I'm still stuck paying $1,365 a month for coverage with a massive $9,000 deductible. How is anyone supposed to survive with this?
I just got a $775 bill for routine blood work. This isn’t some isolated incident—thousands of dollars are pouring out monthly for premiums, only to get hit with more costs when we actually need care. It’s absurd. More than half of my income goes just to maintain this. We earn under $100,000 a year, which disqualifies us from assistance, but still, we’re struggling. The middle class in California is being squeezed and it seems no one cares enough to act.
The Affordable Care Act might have intended well, but look at the mess we're in now. The burden on middle-class families is crushing. We need to cap monthly premiums and cost of services for middle-class Californians to something reasonable. Healthcare shouldn't be a financial black hole where our money disappears monthly with little to no value in return.
Join me in demanding change. We need state leaders to address and cap healthcare premiums, ensuring financial survival for middle-class Californians. Sign this petition to make healthcare genuinely affordable and responsible.
