There is an increasing number of Canon DSLR owners who are also Windows Phone users, among which many photography enthusiasts who where drawn to it by products such as the Lumia 1020 and its 40 MPixel camera. As good as phone cameras are getting though, we know that DSLRs remain on a class above, and yet we keep using them less and less because of their lack of connectivity.

That is why we need either a Canon App. for Windows Phone, or for Canon to open some of their APIs in order for third party developpers to build apps that are able to connect with Canon DSLR such as the 6D or the 7D Mark2.

Up to now, and already for several years, we have had two options when it comes to pairing our smartphones: Android and iOS, which is logical given their market dominance. And yet, now closing on 100 Million global sales over the past 3 years, and consistently scoring near 10% of smartphone sales in the largest European markets, the Windows Phone user base should be large enough for Canon not to ignore it.

Moreover, with Microsoft's plans to unify the Windows and Windows Phone stores by next year, the number of users such an app could target should increase rapidly in the near future.

Bottom line, we understand iOS and Android come first, but after several years we think we should have also a Windows Phone companion app., even if functionality is reduced when compared with the leading platforms.

So please Canon, reconsider your position, and bring us that app or APIs !
