Mercy for Terrance Cole, first time offender sentenced to Life in Federal Prison

Mercy for Terrance Cole, first time offender sentenced to Life in Federal Prison
The Issue
Terrance Cole a first time offender who was sentenced to life in federal prison. He has served nearly 20 years without a disciplinary infraction and his commitment to rehabilitation and Re-Entry is supported by BOP staff. The federal system has no parole and your support of this petition to gain clemency for Terrance may be his only chance to return home.
Terrance was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted at trial. He has suffered the infamous "trial penalty" that punishes those who choose to exercise their constitutional 6th amendment right to a trial. Those who choose to go to trial and lose are given sentences sometimes 10 times harsher than if they had pled guilty. This accounts for the government's nearly 98% conviction rate through the use of plea bargains. People are simply afraid to end up like Terrance Cole.
Terrance has been incarcerated in some of America's most violent prisons. Yet he has, through the grace of God, been able to not just survive but to thrive in such hostile environments. Terrance has been an outstanding mentor to young men during the time of his incarceration and deserves mercy. Please help him come home by signing his petition.
